ATL Community Day

The ATL Community Day celebration was seeded with scintillating thoughts by a team of students and teachers that was meticulously planned and implemented for Saturday, the 14th April 2018.

Upon our invitation over 80 students from nearby communities (Kolapakkam Village), Government schools (Government High School Mugalivakkam, Government Higher Secondary School Kolapakkam) and other private schools (Saraswathi Vidyhalaya Matriculation School, Marya Nivas Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Nadar Sanga Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Panjayati Union Primary School, St. Theresa School, St Joseph Preeti School, Arasinar School) participated in the program.

The celebration commenced with Guru Vandana and Tamil Thai Vazhthu. A warm welcome speech by Omega students captured the day’s attention briefing the importance of the day, contributions of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar to the society, purpose of celebration and more importantly the day’s plan on an hourly basis. Our faculty member from Department of Science Mr. Venkata Subramanian briefed the gathering about the functioning of the Atal Tinkering Lab, its purpose, objectives and the scope of innovation and creativity that is possible at the media lab.  The students then proceeded in groups to participate in various hands-on activities.

      1. Controlling traffic lights using Arduino boards
      2. Designs and Structures using paper, sticks and balloons, checked and verified using Kilogram weights.

All the students performed actively & with utmost enthusiasm and innovation. At the end of the session, students were awarded Omega Paper Plant souvenirs.

A day that was truly symbolic of the ATL’s vision – “Innovation for All”.
