 HOSTEL FACILITY

The Hostel facility at Omega International School is a real home away from home. The Hostel is run according to the guiding principles laid down by Rev. Master. These principles form the anchor that guides us all every day.

Some of these principles are:

Children are cared for as though they are living in Master's home, and as if they are Master's children.

No effort is spared to ensure that they are brought up with the highest spiritual principles.

They are always treated with kindness and love but firmly in matters relating to behaviour and discipline.

There is adequate time for work and play and entertainment.

If and when they require, there is also additional teaching available within the Hostel.

Physical comfort may sometimes be felt to be lacking. However, this is partly by design, since Rev. Master feels that they need to develop a certain toughness to prepare them for life.

However, this in no way compromises their health. Rather, we believe that their health and overall endurance improves markedly as a result of their experience in our Hostel.

The school has excellent infrastructure for sports and games.

Children are permitted to contact their parents on a preset and regular schedule.

Parents are permitted to meet their children on pre-announced days, and by request at certain times.

Children are accommodated in Dorms according to their age and class.

The boys' hostel has four dorms and the girls' hostel has two dorms.

The Hostel has the following facilities/amenities:

Infrastructure and facilities:

All dormitories are well-ventilated, spacious, well organized with adequate furniture and other amenities.
Each student has an independent unit consisting of a bed, wardrobe, study table, chair & shoe rack.
Each dorm has a box room and sufficient toilets and bathrooms.
Hot water is provided by roof-top mounted solar water heaters.
The dorms are protected from mosquitoes with mesh on all the windows.

Kitchen, canteen and laundry:

The school kitchen is well equipped to cook for more than 1500 persons at a time. It has a separate line for steam cooking of rice, milk and dhal, and a separate line for all other processes. All food prepared in the kitchen is tasted by a senior member of the staff before being served.
The menu for the children is made by Nnutritionists, keeping in mind the dietary requirements of the children. It is changed from time to time, so as to give the children a change.
Children are provided with a wide variety of cuisines including South Indian, North Indian and at times Chinese and European.
A Canteen with a wide variety of cooked and ready to eat snacks, drinks and other goodies also provides students with alternatives.
The school has a well-equipped laundry with an industrial grade washing machine, water expeller and dryer. All the machines are run on steam from a dedicated steam generator. Washed clothes are pressed using a line of steam irons.

Other facilities:

Open-air theater in the senior quadrangle for children to watch movies.
Excellent Sports facilities with special coaching facilities for Tennis, Volleyball, Football and Cricket.
The school also has excellent programs for physical fitness and other sports such as track and field and Basketball etc.
Teachers of different subjects are available to offer additional academic guidance after school hours within the Hostel premises. Hostel children's Birthdays are celebrated within the Hostel premises, and parents are welcome to participate in the same.
A Hostel day is celebrated on a pre-notified day every year.
Outings are arranged for hostel children on short holidays.
The Chief Warden, Dr. Saini and the Warden of the Girls Dorm Hostel, Dr. Mrs. Saini, are both doctors, specialists with long years of experience behind them.

Health Centre:

The School has comprehensive Health Centre facilities, with a separate ten-bed facility for Hostellers, staffed by doctors and nurses round the clock.
The Health Centre is well equipped to deal with all normal health situations, . including infectious diseases, and cuts and scratches. However, for more serious problems, the School refers students to local hospitals.
The School insures all children and maintains a rigorous Health Record on all students. This includes periodic health checkups.
Children with pre-existing health problems are looked after with special emphasis on their problems.
