February 2012: Peace & Justice
During February, at the Omega school, VBSE will be focussing on the value, Peace and Justice. Students will explore the following principles, through games, stories, dialogues and other experiential activities suitable for their age group:
- Peace comes with feeling still and happy inside, no matter what happens outside.
- Start with myself: inner peace supports peace between people and universal brotherhood.
- Peace comes with acceptance, trust and respect, for my self and others.
- Listening and observing help me to connect with others and bring peace.
- Peace is not always possible in this world. Accept all that comes, with no expectation, and bring harmony.
- It is our human duty to care for each other. A peaceful heart cares for all and everything.
- If we ensure that our needs are met instead of our wants, there will be greater equality, peace and justice.
- What is justice for one is injustice for another. Absolute justice does not exist. Perhaps the highest form of justice is in fulfilling the laws of Nature.
- All that happens to us in life is a result of our past thoughts and actions, and cannot be blamed on anyone or anything else.
- Remove prejudice and judgement to contribute to peace and justice.
"In spite of so much wealth in some parts of the world, peace is wanting. The external means are adopted in vain for earning peace. Unless we turn ourselves inwards, seeking peace, we cannot have even a grain of it."
Babuji
"Nobody can bring you peace but yourself."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Justice cannot be for one side alone, but must be for both."
Eleanor Roosevelt
