July 2011: Environmental morality
This month at Omega school, the focus is on environmental morality and the VBSE classes will be based on the following underlying values and attitudes:
- To be simple and in harmony with Nature.
- To develop a deep knowing that we are one with Nature and thus interrelated with all things.
- To be aware of the disturbances we have created in Nature as a result of seeing ourselves as separate.
- To understand that as we change and become more loving, understanding, sharing and caring, the natural balance is restored.
The students will be directed:
- To commit to reduce the disturbances human beings cause in Nature.
- To learn to live with less: refuse, reduce, re-use and recycle.
"Welfare of the world means, in today's language, the environment – protect it from pollution, secure it. The world is going to be a dustbin. And who makes the world a dustbin? Not the elephants, not the lions, not the zebras; we human beings, who are supposed to be the highest as far as the ladder of evolution is concerned, so far. We are polluting the world, its atmosphere, its lakes and, worst of all, the minds of people."
'Heartspeak 2009' by Shri P Rajagopalachari
"The wise men of the East, especially in India, have discovered a passive system, where we do not affect, even by a molecule, what happens in this universe."

"There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed. "
