October 2011: Truth and Wisdom

Starting in October at Omega School, the focus is on Truth and Wisdom. During this value, students will be guided to:
  •     See truth as simple, natural and basic, and lying as learnt behaviour.
  •     Understand that to be truthful is to be human.
  •     Learn that there are no such things as small lies and big lies: a lie is a lie.
  •     Tell the truth without hurting the feelings of others.
  •     Appreciate that truth overrides background, education and culture.
  •     Accept that being able to tell the truth is its own reward. The reward is in what you will become, not in what you will get.
  •     Learn that seeing things for what they are, including ourselves, is truthful and wise.
  •     Understand that wisdom is knowing how to use intelligence.
  •     Realise that knowledge is acquired, wisdom grows inside you.
  •     Have the confidence that wisdom is there in the young.
  •     Use the wisdom to give importance to those things that really matter and make choices accordingly - ‘live as if you will die the next moment'.

As always, students will learn through games, stories, dialogues and other experiential activities suitable for their age group.

"To finish the moment, to find the journey's end in every step of the road, to live the greatest number of good hours, is wisdom."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Wisdom consists in forestalling events. To learn before the event is the way of the wise man. To prevent the event altogether is the wisdom of the sage. Some of us know the consequences of our actions only after we have acted. Some even know while they are doing it, the result of such action. The wise man knows beforehand, and avoids. That is also discipline."
Shri. P Rajagopalachari

"Only those who are ashamed to tell the truth, tell lies. "
Shri. P Rajagopalachari
